H-Bahn

One of the best features of the TU Dortmund is that it is a campus university:
All the buildings in one place! Ok, it's rather two places - North Campus and South Campus.
To walk from one to the other it is only 10-15 minutes by foot, but who wants to walk?

The High Train (elevated railway) - lovely dubbed the 'H-Bahn' - is the most prominent attraction on campus and every 10 minutes, it goes from the Technology Center over the suburban train station and the South Campus to Eichlinghofen, the village the South Campus is situated at. Another shorter line only goes from North Campus (near the dining hall) to the South Campus every 5 minutes.

The entrance in Eichlinghofen

The stop at the train station. Another big advantage of the University is its direct connection to the trains and busses. Although the University is surrounded by green and not within the inner city, you can reach the main station in the city center within 8 minutes. The S1 train leaves about every 20 minutes.

Stop at the North Campus, only a few meters from the train stop.

If you are curious about the H-Bahn and the area between South and North Campus, take a trip with me on the H-Bahn. During the end of the 2 minute video you can see part of the sport area on the left side and the Mathematics Tower. Shortly before the right turn you can see the student dorms 'das Dorf' to the right and then the library to the left.

The H-Bahn was even featured in one of the more successful German TV series 'Alarm für Cobra 11', which deals with the highway police. Check it out on Youtube!
